Roulette-
General Information
|
Roulette is a game which became popular in land
casinos because of its warm, fun environment - giving players
more reason to stay than the pay-offs. Online, the game is
played for the money and the suspense of the spins of the
wheel.
Although the game looks complicated to the beginner,
is is actually very easiy mastered. In all, there are eleven
different types of bets tha can be made on a roulette layout.
You can bet on the numbers in groups of one, two, three, four,
five, six, twelve, or eighteen. This variety is more apparent
than real. Unlike craps, all the wagers work pretty much the
same way, all except one face the same house edge, and every
bet is decided on each spin of the wheel.
Let us look at the wheel in roulette. The central
portion of the wheel, called the wheel head, is the only part
that actually spins. It contains thirty-eight numbered slots;
the numbers 1 to 36, half of which are in red slots and half
in black, and the numbers 0 and 00, in green slots.
At first glance, the order of the numbers on
the roulette wheel seems random. Actually, it represents an
attempt to distribute low, high, red, black, even and odd
numbers in as balanced a fashion as possible.
In roulette, it is vital that you familiarize
yourself with the varous bets available at the game and particularly
with the correct payoff on each one. Roulette wages are divided
into two broad categories: inside bets and outside bets. The
inside bets are those that are made on the numbered central
portion of the layout. Every time you wager on a single number
or on a combination of two, three, four, five, or six numbers,
you are making an inside bet.
The outside bets are those that are made in
the boxes on the periphery of the layout. These wagers can
be further subdivided into those that pay 2 to 1 odds and
those that pay even money. All outside bets lose whenever
0 or 00 comes up.
